I have been involved with many of the
TICA shows in the UK but usually ring clerking, entry clerking and general
dogsbody so this unfortunately means I often cannot take a cat. The
last time I tried to ring clerk and show was unsuccessful and I didn't
even bother showing the next day.
I really enjoy showing with TICA.
Showing with them means my cat is never left in a busy show hall alone
with strangers. I can sit with them all day. They are also
protected with cage curtains, so if they want some privacy they can get
it. This was not necessary for Khan who is a major showman and loves
the attention! Purrdy however, was not happy, she did not mind the
judges but did not like being in a cage. Being able to pull
the curtains in between rings really settled her so that she was in a good
mood for each judge.
Being able to hear the Judges
comments as they analyse each cat is a very useful learning tool for any
breeder. Having an open show hall also means the general public
become educated and can pick up tips on what to look for in their chosen
breed. Or sometimes when one just can't decide between breeds seeing
them on public display held up by the judge in all their glory can settle
a decision.
If you have never shown I would
highly recommend it. It can be a fun day out. I have made lots
of friends in the show hall both in this country and the USA. The
only negative is that show bath!
