Candidate for TICA Maine Coon Breed Committee
Kim Tomlin - Juliehill Maine Coons
ELECTED
Hello,
I'm Kim Tomlin and I live in Luverne, Alabama, USA. My husband, Robert, and I
have one son, Andrew, who is presently attending university. We have been
breeding and showing Maine Coons since 2001. Our cattery name is Juliehill Maine
Coons. I have been a TICA member since 2000, am currently a member of the TICA
Maine Coon Breed Committee, the Vice-President of MCBFA, a member of TICA's
Feline Welfare Committee, involved with the TICA Breeder and Fancier Mentor
committees, a member and/or officer for 6 TICA clubs, a member of the Executive
Committee Group for the 2009 TICA Annual, have helped put on many TICA shows
either as a show manager or other supportive positions, and a TICA Approved
Specialty Judge. I have owned and operated my own business for over 18 years.
During which time I have dealt with hundreds of personalities each with their
own special problems and what I pride myself in is that I LISTEN to each and
every one.
The Maine Coon Breed Section is an international group with diverse opinions. As
a committee member I will work with breed group members from all countries,
listening to what they have to say on issues related to the Maine Coon. We have
to work together for the promotion of the Maine Coon breed and I want to be a
part of that process.
No matter what issue arises with our breed, whether it be health related,
husbandry practices, or international concerns, I will listen to all sides. I
will not promote my position but will promote what the breed section as a
majority wishes.
I have met Maine Coons breeders in all the regions I have visited in North
America as well as in Japan. I am travelling to Germany in December of 2008 and
hope to meet breeders there and discuss with them concerns that are relevant to
them. I am also travelling to the UK in August of 2009 and hope to meet Maine
Coon breeders there.
Just this past weekend while at a show in the NE Region, I talked with a fellow
candidate for the breed committee. In discussing the different views of breed
section members, we both agreed on the fact that the whole section should strive
to work together to preserve and protect the Maine Coon breed. Please fellow
members let us do that.
Lastly, when you receive your ballot, please vote. Don't let it just sit and
then forget about it. If you also find it pleasing to vote for me, please know I
will do my best to make you happy you did so.
Kim Tomlin
