Candidate for TICA Maine Coon Breed Committee
Dawn Lovell - Quilts and Queens Maine Coons
Hello everyone,
My name is Dawn Lovell and my Cattery is Quilts N'Queens. I am located in
Meredith New Hampshire and I have been breeding for approximately 7 years.
I started with the help of my mentors Rita, Kim and Kelly Berg (Kelim Coons)
who were and still are an amazing resource and great friends. Well my
cattery name is actually really not applicable now: the Quilts was of course
because I loved to quilt (who has the time with a cattery!) and the Queens
was because..well I wasn't going to have any stinky boys.I was going to use
Rita's.LOL that ended quickly when I fell in love with all three of the boys
in my breeding program..
Please consider me for breed council I am a very organized, honest and will
do whatever I can to help make the organization run to its best potential.
I don't know what the board has in mind to do for the 08-09 year; but
setting up rescues and mini seminars, helping with hcm clinics, and a really
big thing that touches my heart is making sure that the Maine Coons are
being kept in a place that is worthy of these beautiful creatures, we have
all heard about the bad conditions. It needs to be stopped.
Polydactlyism is a hot topic. I do not believe in selling them for more
money. I do not believe in selling red solid cats for more than brown
classic tabbies. Same idea to me. I do have polys in my breeding program.
I adore them. Tica has accepted them in there overall general rules, at the
last board meeting. Tica does not feel it is a health issue. They allow
breeders to register them, they consider them Maine Coon Cats, and in my
opinion I just love them.
Making money with the cattery. Oh, I think that is how I convinced my
husband to start this..but everyone knows you loose money or break even or
you did something wrong!
I hope I have explained myself a little in this brief introduction.
I look forward to talking to all of you.
Dawn Lovell
